Beeswax Candle and Clay Candlestick Making Workshop | April 18, 11-4:00 pm

from $85.00

In this workshop, participants will dip beeswax taper candles and make a pair of ceramic candlesticks to hold them.

We’ll begin the day learning how to dip beeswax candles with Em Trentham, a visiting artist from the Penland area. Participants will be guided through the traditional dipping process, building layers slowly to create multiple pairs of hand-dipped beeswax taper candles to take home.

After a lunch break, we’ll shift to clay. Each participant will decorate a pair of ceramic candlesticks designed to hold their handmade tapers. We’ll focus on carving, surface detail, and color. Candlesticks will be fired after the workshop and will be ready for pickup a couple of weeks later.

The workshop runs from 11:00–4:00 with a break for lunch. You’re welcome to bring food or step out — there are several restaurants within walking distance.
